Empresas CMPC S.A. (“CMPC”) announced its unaudited results for 2Q 2017. Total revenue was $1,280 million for the quarter, up 5% compared to 1Q 2017 and 8% higher compared to 2Q 2016, as the company said in the press release received by Lesprom Network.
EBITDA totaled $289 million during the quarter, up 31% year-over-year. EBITDA margin expanded to 22.6%, up from 17.3% in 1Q 2017 and 18.6% in 2Q 2016.
The 31% year-over-year increase in EBITDA was mainly due to a 65% increment in Pulp EBITDA, partially offset by declines of 8% in Tissue and 40% in Paper. Higher Pulp EBITDA reflects increased pulp prices and lower costs, while the lower Paper EBITDA reflects lower boxboard EBITDA generation.
CMPC reported a net income of $26 million in 2Q 2017, compared to a net loss of $18 million in 1Q 2017 and net income of 47 million in 2Q 2016.
