Centurion Lumber Ltd traces its roots to Gordie, who in 1955 was one of the original founders of Doman Industries and in 1968 left to form G.S. Doman Ltd., a wholesale lumber company. The company later changed its name to Centurion Lumber and expanded into lumber remanufacturing and trucking; the trucking operation obtained licenses to haul in the USA and was later sold, with two drivers retained. After Gordie Doman died in 1978, his son Jerry assumed day-to-day operations, expanded remanufacturing capacity and began custom processing under the name Chemainus Forest Products (CFP); Copper Canyon Timber also became part of the group. In 2000 the company entered the veneer business, leading to the creation of Thompson River Veneer Products in 2007. Jerry was joined in operations by his twin brothers: Randy, who works on remanufacturing, and Ronnie, who serves as Controller. Jerry’s three children are involved in the business: Gordon and Jaron helped develop the Access Matt division and manage trucking operations, and Denesha, a recent honours graduate from Queen's, is learning all aspects of the business.
