Given the rapidly evolving economic situation, Statistics Canada is providing an advance estimate of sales in the manufacturing sector for November 2023. Advance results indicate that total manufacturing sales increased 1.2% in November. The largest increases were in the chemical product, transportation equipment, and primary metal subsectors.
This estimate was calculated based on a weighted response rate of 57.7%. The average final response rate for the survey over the previous 12 months was 94.5%. As Statistics Canada continues to collect data for the November reference month, this early indicator is subject to a higher revision rate than regular monthly release.
