Gascogne stops paper production in Mimizan due to technical incident

Dec 23, 2013. /Lesprom Network/. A major technical incident occurred on Gascogne Paper mill’s main boiler in Mimizan, France. The entire steam system was drained as a precautionary measure, involving the stoppage of paper pulp production, as the company said in the press release received by Lesprom Network.

Following an in-depth analysis of the consequences of this incident and in view of the time required for producing and replacing the damaged parts, it is expected that the facilities will resume production at the beginning of January 2014.

The impact of this stoppage on the Gascogne Group's underlying operating profit is estimated at Euro 2-3 million. This stoppage should partially prepare for the statutory plant stoppage initially planned for May 2014.
