Swedish Domsjo Fabriker is interested in utilising of Rottneros' debarking and chipping unit in Utansjo mill

Mar 19, 2008. /Lesprom.com/. Parts of Rottneros AB's Utansjo mill may continue to operate. Rottneros and Domsjo Fabriker AB announced in mid-March that they were in negotiations regarding the utilisation of Rottneros' debarking and chipping unit in Utansjo through Domsjo Fabriker. Rottneros had decided in August 2006 to close the Utansjo mill due to the dramatic rise in energy costs. In February this year, the company said it would discontinue groundwood pulp production at the Utansjo mill at the end of May and CTMP production around one month earlier. Domsjo Fabriker is interested in utilising around 50% of the current capacity of the debarking and chipping facility. The Utansjö Mill produces groundwood pulp and CTMP. Both grades of pulp are used primarily for coated and uncoated printing and writing paper. Swedish Domsjo Fabriker produces and sells dissolving and papergrade pulp throughout the world.
