U.S. containerboard production up 2.2% in August

U.S. containerboard production was up 2.2% compared to August 2017 and up 1.6% year-to-date. The month-over-month average daily production compared to July 2018 was 2.5% lower, as the American Forest & Paper Association reported.

The containerboard operating rate was 97.2%, 0.7 percentage points higher than the same month last year. Production for export reached its highest level for 2018 so far; it was 13.2% higher than August 2017 but 0.8% lower year-to-date.
