Crown Timber entered into a trading partnership with Masonite Beams AB

Dec 15, 2015. /Lesprom Network/. Crown Timber plc has entered into a trading partnership with Masonite Beams AB of Sweden which will see Crown Timber importing Masonite’s range of I-joists for onward just-in-time distribution to timber engineering and merchant companies throughout the UK and Ireland. These products are primarily used in the fabrication of floors for new homes, as the company says in the press release received by Lesprom Network.

For the past decade Crown Timber’s range of I-joists has been supplied by Boise Cascade of the USA but supply is now being transitioned over to Masonite.

"This move will enhance the competitiveness of our offering to customers, and their builder customers, in several ways,” explains Crown Timber’s director of sales & marketing Nigel McKillop. "Exchange rate movements recently are favouring European producers over those in the US, and we will also benefit from much shorter and more flexible logistical routes. In addition the metric sizes and lengths are more suitable for our customer base, and Masonite have the facilities and flexibility to produce bespoke lengths for our customers where that would be helpful for a specific project”.

The Masonite range of products will be available for just-in-time supply from Crown Timber’s distribution terminals in mixed loads of a full range of timber and wood-based products for timber engineering companies, including TR26, cls, bracing, framing, chipboard, OSB and tiling battens.

Crown Timber will also continue to offer a range of complimentary products for use in manufacturing engineered floors, including LVL and glulam, as well as first-class design software and an engineering support service.
