The interruptible service is a regulation mechanism that creates a balance between the energy offer and demand. Managed by the Spanish Electricity Network (REE), when there is a sudden reduction in the supply or a one-off excess in the energy demand, the service is activated, leading to a reduction or an interruption in consumption at large national industries.
