Kemira expands production capacity at its chlor-alkali site in Joutseno, Finland

Kemira will make a multi-million euro investment to expand production at its Joutseno chlor-alkali site in Finland. The production capacity will be expanded to ensure Kemira’s ability to address the growing need for sodium hydroxide in Finland, as the company says in the press release received by Lesprom Network.

“We invest in the chlor-alkali site production capacity to ensure our ability to effectively serve our customers. The investment continues the previously announced investments in Joutseno site”, says Tommi Kankkunen, VP, Manufacturing, Pulp & Paper segment.

The investment is expected to be operational during the 4Q 2018. Joutseno chlor-alkali site produces sodium hydroxide, hydrochloric acid, and sodium hypochlorite for pulp and paper and process industries as well as municipal water treatment.
