McKenzie Forest Products restarts in Hudson, Ontario

Apr 07, 2010. /Lesprom Network/. The McKenzie Forest Products mill in Hudson, Ontario, will reopen on May 31. The mill has been shut down by its owner Buchanan Forest Products since October 2008, as ForestTalk reported. 75-80 people will be employed when the mill restarts. The Steelworkers union membership will return under a collective agreement signed just before the mill shut down. A better economy and market conditions are credited for re-start. However, Buchanan‘s other Northwest operations – Dubreuil Forest Products, Atikokan Forest Products, and Thunder Bay‘s Northern Sawmills, Northern Hardwoods and Great West Timber – remain idle.
