MeadWestvaco Corporation (NYSE: MWV) Specialty Chemicals Division today announced it has expanded its line of dye dispersants with the acquisition of Borregaard LignoTech’s kraft lignin-based products, used in dyestuffs, agricultural, water treatment and asphalt emulsifier markets. As part of the agreement, MeadWestvaco Specialty Chemicals also became the exclusive worldwide distributor for LignoTech’s sulfite-based (lignosulfonate) dye dispersants products.

MeadWestvaco Corporation (NYSE: MWV) Specialty Chemicals Division today announced it has expanded its line of dye dispersants with the acquisition of Borregaard LignoTech’s kraft lignin-based products, used in dyestuffs, agricultural, water treatment and asphalt emulsifier markets. As part of the agreement, MeadWestvaco Specialty Chemicals also became the exclusive worldwide distributor for LignoTech’s sulfite-based (lignosulfonate) dye dispersants products. “The Borregaard acquisition and distribution agreement allows MeadWestvaco to complement our current business in the kraft lignin-based product marketplace and expand our dye dispersants line to offer customers the best products, technology and formulation support in the dispersants business,” said Ben F. Ward, president, Specialty Chemicals Division, MeadWestvaco. “Our comprehensive products and services provide even greater ease and flexibility to our customers, helping them to develop competitive, high performance products.” LignoTech is a business within Borregaard, an international supplier of specialty and fine chemicals with production facilities in 13 countries and sales offices in 21 countries. As a result of the acquisition, Borregaard LignoTech will discontinue operations at its Bдckhammar, Sweden facility, and MeadWestvaco Specialty Chemicals will produce kraft lignin products from its North Charleston, S.C., plant.
