Southern Container to take on RockTenn identity

Southern Container Corp., a RockTenn company, said that its businesses, Southern Container, Solvay Paperboard and PreFlex, are consolidating their corporate identity into RockTenn, PaperAge reported. “Consolidating our corporate identity with RockTenn will strengthen our company's position as a leading North American producer of consumer and corrugated packaging, paperboard and merchandising displays,” said Jim Porter, executive vice president of RockTenn. “All of our businesses will go to market under a common RockTenn brand. We will eliminate our current varying divisional identities and branding strategies in favor of a fresh, stronger RockTenn brand and identity.” Porter will be heading-up the new Corrugated Packaging division. “Our entire management team is still in place and the points of contacts will not change,” he noted. This expanded division consolidates the legacy RockTenn corrugated plants, Southern Container corrugated and graphics plants, together with the Solvay Paperboard mill and the RockTenn St. Paul corrugated medium mill. "This new division is now the 7th largest containerboard and corrugated packaging system in North America," Porter added.
