Jan 25, 2006. /Lesprom Network/. Swiss carton packaging company SIG Combibloc, a unit of packaging technology group SIG Holding, has won Brazilian dairy products maker Batavia SA Industria de Alimentos as new customer, according to SIG. SIG will install a complete filling line, worth nearly 4.0 million euro ($4.7 million), in a facility of Batavia in the Brazilian state of Parana. According to SIG, the cooperation is a significant milestone for the company's expansion in the strategic region of South America. The South American market, with seven billion litres sold annually, offers attractive growth perspectives for the SIG's aseptic packaging business. After an intensive market penetration phase in 2006 and 2007, SIG will start the construction of a packaging materials production plant at the end of 2007.
