U.S. kraft paper shipments down 1.3% in May

U.S. kraft paper shipments in May 2016 were 138 thousand short tons, 1.3% lower compared to May 2015, as the American Forest & Paper Association reported.

Bleached kraft paper shipments decreased from 8.5 thousand short tons in April to 7.0 while unbleached kraft paper increased from 129.3 to 131.0 thousand short tons.

Overall, shipments in the first five months of 2016 were 1.1% lower compared to the same period in 2015. Total month-end inventories increased from 76.2 to 79.2 thousand short tons.
