GL&V’s pulp and paper group acquired Montreal KanEng
Apr 05, 2006. /Lesprom Network/. Groupe Laperriere & Verreault Inc. announces that it has acquired the principal assets of KanEng Industries Inc. and of KanEng-Deltec Inc., located in the Montreal, Quebec region. KanEng specializes in the manufacture of high-turnover components (consumables) for paper machines, mainly doctoring systems, along with showering systems, heating and cooling systems, dryer drainage systems and other related equipment. Founded in 1983, KanEng achieves annual sales of approximately $5 million, a significant proportion of which is in the aftermarket. Primarily serving North American paper manufacturers, it also derives revenues from certain licensed overseas manufacturers as well as through sales agents in some 20 countries.
KanEng’s operations will be integrated into GL&V’s existing business. This acquisition, like the previous acquisition of Perplas Ltd. completed at the beginning of fiscal 2006, is consistent with the pulp and paper group’s strategy aimed at broadening its selection of value-added, high-turnover products in order to strengthen its position in the aftermarket, especially in North America and Europe. “It will also give us the opportunity to market these new products through GL&V’s worldwide network,” indicated Richard Verreault, GL&V’s president and chief operating officer.
Founded in 1975, GL&V is a world leader in liquid/solid separation technologies used in a large number of industrial, municipal and environmental processes. Its process group (Dorr-Oliver Eimco) offers a broad range of products and services intended for metal and ore processing, as well as industrial and environmental processes used in various other sectors such as chemicals and petrochemicals, food processing, pulp and paper and energy. The water treatment group is focused on the development and worldwide marketing of process equipment in the treatment of drinking water and wastewater. Through its pulp and paper group, GL&V also specializes in the design and marketing of equipment for various stages of pulp and paper production. Finally, GL&V Manufacturing specializes in the production of large custom-made parts for external customers involved mainly in the pulp and paper and energy sectors, as well as GL&V’s other units. GL&V is present in 40 countries on six continents and has close to 1 700 employees.
