German Pellets increased FY 2014 sales revenues to Euro 593 million

May 25, 2015. /Lesprom Network/. Despite being faced with somewhat difficult market conditions caused by the mild weather and the fall in the price of oil, the German Pellets Group finished the 2014 business year with an increase in turnover and operating results. German Pellets benefited from more favourable production costs in the USA and from the expansion of sales in essential European core markets, as the company said in the press release received by Lesprom Network.

Sales revenues in the 2014 business year rose to Euro 593 million (2013: Euro 556.9). The earnings before interests, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) increased to Euro 50.2 million. At the same time, the net income for the year amounted to Euro 7.9 million.

In addition to its sales activities on the private and commercial heating market, German Pellets markets its own wood pellets as well as commodities on the industrial and power plant market throughout the whole of Europe. German Pellets has considerably increased its trading activities in 2014. Demand on the European industrial and power plant market increased to a total of 10 million tons (2013: 9 million tons) last business year. German Pellets concluded two new medium-term to long-term supply contracts with European energy companies, including the supply of wood chips for the very first time.

“2014 was a difficult year, especially for the wood pellet heating market in Europe, starting with a mild winter and finishing with a reduction in the price of oil. Despite this, the market for wood pellets has proven its robustness. German Pellets managed to keep on growing,” according to Peter H. Leibold, Managing Partner of German Pellets GmbH.

German Pellets is the world’s largest producer and trader of wood pellets.
