Holzindustrie Schweighofer invests Euro 30 million in its sawmill in Kodersdorf, Germany

During the next two years, Holzindustrie Schweighofer will invest around Euro 30 million in its sawmill in Kodersdorf, Germany. Thus, in addition to lumber and planned timber products, the sawmill in Kodersdorf will also produce glued laminated timber in the future which is especially used in the Japanese housing construction sector, as the company says in the press release received by Lesprom Network.

Gerald Schweighofer said: “We are proud of our sawmill in Kodersdorf, our employees are doing an incredible job in strengthening Kodersdorf as a gateway for international markets. The expansion will not only result in a significant increase in value addition, but will also create around 100 additional jobs as of the beginning of 2019.”

The Austrian Schweighofer Group acquired the sawmill in Kodersdorf, Germany, in 2015 and has been focusing on increasing its production capacity ever since. Today, the sawmill produces lumber and planned timber products which mainly cater to the Japanese and US market. With its 430 employees, the company has also become a significant employer in the region.
