A Moscow court has arrested Vladimir Shishov, the deputy director of the Russian Defense Ministry’s military property department, as well as Dmitry Levchenko, the CEO of a lumber company 'IFK RNGS Capital', on charges of large-scale fraud, Kommersant newspaper reported.

According to investigators, in October 2022 the company won a tender from the Ministry of Defense in the amount of 60 million rubles for the supply of lumber for the construction of trenches. Damage due to the inflated cost of supplied lumber under only one contract amounted to 27 million rubles. Since the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the company has concluded contracts with the Ministry of Defense worth more than 1 billion rubles.

In the past, Shishov was deputy head of the Russian Federal Forestry Agency.
