Russian Belozersky fulfilled audit checks to obtain FSC forestry management certificate

Russian Belozersky timber enterprise finished the necessary audit checks in order to obtain FSC forestry management compliance certificate for 220 hectares of forestry, Cherepovetsles public-affairs told Lesprom.ru. After the main checks were carried out, the auditors came out with two requirements the company owners intend to fulfill in due time. In May 2004 all the documents prepared by SGS auditors during the recent check shall be forwarded to an additional expertise check. In summer 2004 Belozersky intends to obtain FSC certificate. SGS experts were collecting the necessary data for a week, visiting the timber production sites, inquiring about the results of the natural reforestation assistance program. The experts spoke to workers employed on the enterprise and local residents, studied the necessary documents and came out with an expert appreciation of the enterprise’s activity. Cherepovetsles holding company intends to provide FSC full production (whole ‘producer to consumer’ cycle) certification of Belozersky.
