Apr 22, 2013. /Lesprom Network/. Sweden Sveaskog's 1Q2013 net sales decreased 4,8% to SEK 1,583 million ($242.39 million). Sales volumes increased by 3% over the previous year, while sales prices on average fell by 11%, reported company. Operating profit increased 21.5% to SEK 271 million ($41.5 million) and net profit up 2.92% to SEK 282 million ($43.18 million).

Sveascog's President and CEO Per-Olof Wedin said: The lower price levels in the first quarter offset by larger volumes of wood from its own forests and lower production costs, partly as a result of increased efficiency. In total, Svea's sales of forest products during the quarter to 3.0 (2.9) million cubic meters (m3). Sales of pulpwood and chips increased by over six per cent, while the increase for other grades were more modest. Developments on Sveaskog markets during the quarter remained weak. For several of Svea's customers is the weak economy and the strong Swedish krona noticeable and affect sales and profitability. However, there are hopes that the economy has hit bottom.
