Sweden stocks of roundwood and wood chips increased by 20% in 2Q

Sep 20, 2014. /Lesprom Network/. Sweden’s total stock of coniferous sawlogs, pulpwood and wood chips is estimated to amount 8.9 million cubic metres solid volume excluding bark as at 30 June 2014. An increase by 20% compared with the same time frames as last year, as the Swedish Forest Agency said in the press release received by Lesprom Network.

Stock volumes of coniferous sawlogs are still at a high level, 3.3 million cubic metres. The stock volumes of coniferous sawlogs increased in all wood balance regions. The stock volumes was largest in wood balance region 1 (1.3 million cubic metres) and in wood balance region 4 (1.2 million cubic metres), the northern and southern regions of Sweden. The largest increase (81%) has occurred in wood balance region 1.

The total stocks of pulpwood amounted to 4.4 million cubic metres as at 30 June 2014, which is a decline by 3% compared to the same time frames of the year before. As per assortment pulpwood stocks was: 2.9 million cubic metres of mixed coniferous while stocks of spruce pulpwood and hardwood pulpwood accounted for 0.7 respective 0.8 million cubic metres.

The stock volumes of wood chips are estimated to amount 1.1 million cubic metres. This is an increase of 49% compared to 30 June 2013.
