The design capacity of the plant will be 30,000 t/a and the total investment value will be around Euro 4 million.
Torrec Oy has been developing its own torrefaction technology in Mikkeli, Central Finland, in co-operation with the local development company Miktech Oy, Etelä-Savon Energia Oy and the Finnish development fund Tekes.
With the new production plant, also Helsingin Energia (Helen Oy) will have the opportunity to increase its use of renewable fuels, since TW pellets can be mixed with fossil coal up to 50 % without new investments at the power station.
Torrec develops and commercializes biocoal pellet production technology.
