AIFF introduced new environmental label for forest products

Oct 04, 2013. /Lesprom Network/. To highlight the carbon sequestration capacity of forest products and to prove the underlying environmental benefits, AIFF – introduced the Carbon Scale Label for forest products under the Carbon Footprint Label anchor project, as Sonae Indústria said in the press release received by Lesprom Network.

This new label, quite differentiated from other products in the market, will inform the customers of the equivalent value of carbon dioxide (CO2) captured or issued by certain forest based products, for example in coatings, flooring and wood or cork furniture.

The products carrying the Carbon Scale Label will have to indicate at least 30% of raw materials (mass percentage) originating from the forestry.

The Carbon Scale Label is an initiative of the AIFF - Associação para a Competitividade da Indústria da Fileira Florestal (Competitiveness and Technology Center for Forest Industries). It helps to identify the contribution of various products in combating climate change.
