AmberBirch, a key player in the Latvian veneer production sector, is set to expand its operational capabilities through a significant investment. The company has secured a Euro 20 million technology delivery contract with Raute Corporation to boost its birch veneer production by an additional 60,000 m3 per year.

This expansion plan includes the adoption of modern manufacturing technologies encompassing log handling, peeling, drying, and grading processes. The integration of Raute's R7-Series technologies, along with new visual- and moisture analyzers and the MillSIGHTS MIS-software, aims to enhance production efficiency and product quality.

The new machinery and equipment, slated for delivery between the end of 2024 and the start of 2025, will be sourced from Raute's facilities in Lahti and Kajaani, Finland, and through its international network. This move is aimed at diversifying AmberBirch's veneer offerings and improving its service to existing customers by providing a wider range of high-quality veneer products.

Karlis Kavass, a Board Member at AmberStone Group, AmberBirch's parent company, expressed confidence in the expansion and its potential impact on the company's growth. "Raute's technology has been a key component of our operations. This expansion reflects our commitment to enhancing our production capabilities and market reach," he said.

Mika Saariaho, CEO of Raute, also commented on the partnership, emphasizing the mutual benefits of the ongoing collaboration. "We are pleased to support AmberBirch in this significant investment with our technology and solutions. This partnership is geared towards strengthening AmberBirch's position in the market," Saariaho noted.

AmberStone Group, established in 2013, holds a diverse portfolio of investments across several sectors in Latvia and Estonia. AmberBirch, which began operations in 2019, has established itself as a notable veneer producer in the region. The company's veneer products are used in a variety of applications, from household items to construction, reflecting its role in the wood processing industry.
