Following the integration of Continental Wood Products Ltd into Bergs Timber AB, the company will change its name to Bergs Timber (UK) Ltd on January 1, 2019.
The change reflects a closer working relationship with the Swedish sawmills within Bergs Timber AB. The Bergs Timber (UK) office will bring together the UK sales from both companies under one roof. QP Timber Ltd, who has successfully handled the sales of Bergs Timber products for the UK in the past have agreed a gradual hand over period to ensure that the business is integrated in an efficient and timely manner during the 1Q 2019.
Jonny Anderson of Bergs Timber is appointed as Softwood Director and will oversee the direct sales going forward ensuring a level of continuity for the current QP Timber customer base. Jerry Wilson will remain in his current position as Director for stock sales.
The change will also create further opportunities to service customers using the company’s own port and shipping line. The Baltic mills within the group will maintain their current routes to the UK market.
Peter Nilsson, CEO of Bergs Timber AB commented: “This announcement starts what will be an exciting period for us in the UK. Whilst the full impact of Brexit is still to be revealed we remain confident that the UK market will continue to be a key trading partner for our products and look forward to further strengthening what has traditionally been a strong trading relationship with the UK”.
Bergs Timber (UK) will continue to work with its current independent suppliers to ensure one of the most comprehensive supplies of wood-based products in the UK coupled with new product lines which are under development such as flame-retardant treated timber.
