BlueLinx Holdings Inc., a U.S. distributor of building products, has acquired Disdero Lumber Co. from Tumac Lumber Company for approximately $96 million. After accounting for an estimated $8 million in expected tax benefits, the net transaction value is about $88 million. The purchase was funded with cash on hand and will not materially affect BlueLinx’s liquidity or leverage position, according to BlueLinx Holdings Inc.

Disdero, founded in 1953 and based in Clackamas, Oregon, distributes premium specialty wood products including clear lumber and architectural elements to nearly all 50 states. Its products are used mainly in custom homes, decks, and high-end residential and commercial construction projects.

The acquisition follows BlueLinx’s opening of a new distribution center in Portland, Oregon, and its previous purchase of Vandermeer Forest Products in Washington.

BlueLinx stated that the transaction supports its strategy to expand higher-margin specialty products and enhance its Western U.S. presence. The company expects the acquisition to be immediately accretive to earnings and to create growth opportunities through its existing branch network.
