Britton Lumber Company has announced its planned acquisition of Massachusetts-based building materials distributor Denison-Cannon Company, with the transaction expected to close in February 2026. The acquisition will expand Britton Lumber's geographic footprint into Rhode Island and Connecticut and diversify its customer base to include packaging and pallet manufacturers.

Founded in 1920, Denison-Cannon has been led for over 40 years by Peter Hyatt and Carmen Mattuchio, who will join the Britton Lumber team alongside their colleagues. The deal adds a strategically located facility in Billerica, Massachusetts, to Britton Lumber's wholesale distribution network.

The company stated the move will enhance its ability to serve customers in Southern New England. Denison-Cannon has been a long-time customer of Britton Lumber's manufacturing division.

Britton Lumber, a distributor and manufacturer of Eastern White Pine boards founded in 1946, operates throughout New England and Upstate New York.
