Jun 06, 2005. /Lesprom Network/. The amount of felling done in Estonia last year decreased by 178,000 cubic meters or 2.3% in comparison with the previous year, totaling 7.632 million cubic meters, data by the Statistical Office show.
The felled area meanwhile grew from 122,549 hectares in 2003 to 132,097 hectares last year.
Of last year’s total, renewal felling accounted for 5.332 million and tending felling, for 2.156 million cubic meters.
The felling done in state-owned forests came to 2.504 million cubic meters compared to 5.019 million cubic meters in private forests. A year earlier the corresponding figures were respectively 2.856 million and 4.809 million cubic meters.
