Grafton Group plc has entered into an agreement to acquire the entire issued share capital of Cygnum Holdings Limited, a leading supplier of offsite timber frame solutions in the Irish market. The transaction remains subject to approval by the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission in Ireland, according to Grafton Group.

Founded in 1997 and based in Macroom, County Cork, Cygnum recorded unaudited 2025 revenue of Euro 45.6 million and adjusted operating profit of Euro 7.9 million.

The existing management team will remain with the business. Grafton intends to operate Cygnum as part of Chadwicks Group, its market-leading distribution business in the Republic of Ireland, aligning with the strategy to extend product offerings and support modern construction methods.

Timber frame construction continues to gain share in the Irish new homes market. Data from the Department of Housing indicates that 61% of homes in scheme developments notified the intention to use timber frame construction in the second half of 2025. With just over 36 thousand homes completed in 2025 and a government target of 60 thousand homes annually by 2030, the acquisition positions Chadwicks Group to serve customers adopting modern building methods.
