Aug 22, 2012. /Lesprom Network/. Malheur Lumber Co., a subsidiary of Ochoco Lumber Co., plans to cease operations at its John Day, Oregon, sawmill effective November 1, 2012. The sawmill and related departments will be mothballed at that time, as Random Lengths reported.
The biomass production facility, which includes a pellet and wood brick mill, a chipper and whole log shaver, will continue to operate on its normal schedule. The company can no longer get sufficient timber from nearby national forests.
