The Board of Directors of Norra Skog has decided to invest SEK 100 million ($10.5 million) in upgrading the sawmill in Hissmofors, Sweden. The investment makes it possible to increase sawn product production by 10,000 m3 of per year. The first steps will be taken this summer and the reconstruction will be completed in the fall of 2026.
The investment should be seen as the first step of two to upgrade the Hissmofors sawmill, which is operated by Norra Skog's industrial branch Norra Timber. The second step is still in the planning stage and will be decided in the fall of 2026.
Henrik Jönsson Industrial Manager at Norra Skog, emphasizes that the investment also strengthens Norra Skog's geographical balance.
“We have previously made major investments in our sawmills in Kåge and Sävar. Now we have a better whole that will strengthen our position in the markets. This is a good example of win-win - both for the association's industries and the members,” he says.
The investment is also part of the long-term strengthening of family forestry throughout Norra Skog's entire operating area.
