Apr 29, 2011. /Lesprom Network/. Powerflute’s Savon Sellu mill will stop for almost two weeks in May for its annual maintenance standstill. During this standstill Savon Sellu will rebuild its packaging line, as the company said in a press release received by Lesprom Network. The new, fully-automated packaging line is delivered by Saimatec Engineering and can handle rolls up to 3600mm, making Savon Sellu the first Semi-Chemical Fluting producer to embrace the emerging trend for wider corrugators. The CEO of Savon Sellu, Juha Koukka says: “Following our Euro 2.5 million investment in fibre treatment in August, we continue to focus on improved quality and customer service. This is all part of our ongoing capital expenditure program intended to cement our position as the supplier of the best semi-chemical fluting in the world”. Powerflute Oyj is a packaging group with established positions in Nordic semi-chemical fluting and coated woodfree papers. The Group has two principal trading subsidiaries Savon Sellu Oy and Papierfabrik Scheufelen GmbH & Co. KG. Savon Sellu operates a paper mill in Kuopio, Finland producing up to 300,000 tonnes per annum of Nordic semi-chemical fluting. The product is made from birch, sourced principally in Finland and Russia, and is sold under the brand name Powerflute®.
