Timber stocks in Sweden reached 9.7 million m3 as of 30 June 2025, showing a clear increase compared with the same period in 2024. The rise is driven by pulpwood and pulp chips, which increased by 31% and 32% respectively. Softwood sawlogs remained stable at 2.6 million m3, up 2% year-on-year, according to the Swedish Forest Agency.
Pulpwood stocks totalled 5.9 million m3, and pulp chips amounted to 1.3 million m3. Within this category, softwood pulpwood, including spruce, reached 4.6 million m3, up 25% from a year earlier. Hardwood pulpwood rose 63% to 1.3 million m3, which is 60% above the average for the same period during 2020–2024.
While softwood sawlogs showed a slight annual increase, their volume remained 4% below the 2020–2024 average for the same period.
Roundwood for energy purposes totalled approximately 680,000 m3 as of 30 June, based on data from companies included in the Swedish Forest Agency's survey.
