Sweden's area of notified logging and permits applied for was 19,018 hectares in March, which was a decrease of 13%, compared to March 2023. Of this area, applications for permits for final felling of montane forests represented 250 hectares, compared with 3,125 hectares in the same month last year, according to the Swedish Forest Agency.

Compared to the average area of notifications and applications for the country in March over the previous five years, this is a decrease of 14%. Compared to the average area for the previous ten years, this is a decrease of 6%.

For January to March, the area of notifications and applications for permits for final felling was 50,529 hectares, which is a decrease of 21%, compared to the same period last year. So far this year, the area of applications for permits for final felling of montane forests is 1,029 hectares, for the corresponding period last year the area was 6,433 hectares.

In Northern Norrland, the area notified and applied for has decreased by 44%, in Southern Norrland by 1%, in Svealand by 33% and in Götaland by 10%, compared to the corresponding period 2023.

Compared to the average area of notifications and applications for the country in the corresponding period for the previous five years, it is a decrease of 13%. Compared to the previous ten years, it is a decrease of 8%.
