The Swedish gross felling in 2020 amounted to 93.3 million m3 standing volume, according to preliminary statistics from the Swedish Forest Agency. This is an increase of 0.5% compared to 2019 when the felling amounted to 92.8 million m3 standing volume.

The net felling, which consists of the harvested volume of all tree trunks that are fully or partially removed, amounted to just over 74.4 million m3 (m3sub) in 2020. Half of the net felling consisted of saw logs from conifers, 40% of pulpwood, 7% of firewood and a few percent of other wood.

Compared to 2019, the felling of saw logs from conifers is estimated to have decreased by 0.5% and the felling of pulpwood increased by 0.6% and firewood increased by 0.5%. In 2020, imports of roundwood were preliminarily 7.2 million m3, which is about 1.6 million m3 less than the year before. Exports were preliminary 1.0 million m3, which is approximately 0.2 million m3 more than in 2019.

Just over 60% of the harvested volume comes from final felling, 25% from thinning and the rest from other types of fellings. Approximately 40% of the harvested volume comes from Götaland, 30% from Svealand and 30% from Norrland.
