Swedwood Tikhvin to open Euro 15 million furniture mill in Leningrad region

Swedwood Tikhvin (Leningrad region, Russia, belongs to Swedish industrial group Swedwood) will open in city of Tikhvin (Leningrad region) on November 15 a Euro 15 million mill producing wardrobes and shelves, Leningrad region government press-service reported. Furniture produced in Leningrad region will be supplied to IKEA warehouses all over the world including Russia. Mill’s productive capacity will total 167 700 units of production per annum. Project’s pay-back period is nine years. This project is the second phase of Swedish Swedwood project in Leningrad region. First phase included timber factory and furniture components producing facility worth SEK 82.4 million, which were set into operation in July 2002. Mill’s productive capacity is 120 000 cubic meters per annum. At present, production capacities of Swedwood Tikhvin are engaged in the process from logging to production of furniture components which are further destined to Sweden, Poland and Finland for final assemblage.
