Universal Forest Products completes purchase of D-Stake Mill, Inc. and Manufacturing Country in Oregon

Universal Forest Products, Inc. announced that one of its subsidiaries has purchased certain assets of D-Stake Mill, Inc., in McMinnville, OR and Manufacturing Country, in Independence, OR. The acquisition expands Universal’s reach and capacity in the growing industrial products market.
D-Stake and Manufacturing Country manufacture kiln stickers, lath, stakes, decking, and pallets and pallet components for a variety of industries including manufacturing, retail and agriculture. In 2007, sales to their customer base, which is concentrated in California, Washington, and Oregon, totaled approximately $18.5 million. Universal Forest Products Western Division finalized the purchase on June 9, 2008.

Sales Manager Dan Harris will remain with Universal as General Manager of Operations. Bob Harris will stay on as a consultant through the transition.
Universal Forest Products engineers, manufactures and markets wood and wood-alternative products for DIY/ retail home centers, structural lumber products for the manufactured housing industry, engineered wood components and framing services for the site-built construction market and specialty wood packaging and components for various industries.
