JK Paper Limited plans to significantly boost production capacity by installing a new bleached chemi-thermomechanical pulp (BCTMP) line at its Fort Songadh mill in Gujarat, India. The new line will increase the company’s ability to manufacture lightweight coated board and high-quality pulp. The start-up is scheduled for late 2025, further enhancing the mill’s production capabilities to meet growing market demands.
JK Paper is one of India's leading paper manufacturers, established in 1962, with a strong portfolio in office papers, coated papers, writing and printing papers, and high-end packaging boards. The company operates three integrated pulp and paper mills: Unit JKPM in Rayagada (Odisha), Unit CPM in Songadh (Gujarat), and Unit SPM in Kagaznagar (Telangana). With an installed capacity of around 800,000 tonnes per year, JK Paper plays a crucial role in India’s paper production sector, catering to both domestic and international markets.
Valmet has been selected as the supplier for this project. Valmet will deliver both the BCTMP and evaporator lines, incorporating its advanced high-temperature (HT) BCTMP technology. The BCTMP line, with a capacity of 400 air-dry metric tons per day (ADMT/d), will optimize pulp quality and minimize energy consumption. In addition, Valmet will supply a Mechanical Vapor Recompression (MVR) evaporator plant, capable of processing 180 tons of water per hour, to handle the mill’s liquor recovery and water recycling efficiently.
