Shandong Sun Paper will install cooking, fiberline and recovery boiler systems at its new Yandian pulp mill in Shandong province. The mill will produce 600 thousand tonnes per year and start up in the last quarter of 2026, Valmet, the equipment supplier, announced.
The order, included in Valmet’s orders received for the second quarter of 2025, covers cooking and fiberline, a recovery boiler and ash crystallization, marking Valmet’s third cooking and fiberline delivery and second recovery boiler delivery since 2020. The value of the order was not disclosed.
The cooking and fiberline will feature the latest continuous cooking technology to maximize energy and raw material utilization. Valmet TwinRoll wash presses will secure high end-product quality with low effluent flows, while integrated Fiberline Analyzer measurements and an optimizer will maintain tight process control and high environmental performance for the 0.6 million tonnes-per-year fiberline.
The recovery island comprises a high-power recovery boiler with a capacity of 3,500 tonnes per day and an ash crystallization unit that removes chloride and potassium from the chemical cycle. These features extend cleaning campaigns, increase on-site renewable electricity production for the mill’s own use and minimize corrosion and emissions.
