Arauco selects Abengoa to develop new transmission project in Chile

Abengoa has been selected by Arauco, one of the main producers of cellulose and wood derivatives in Chile, for the development of a new transmission project in the Andean country, as the company said in the press release received by Lesprom Network.

This award includes the construction of a 220 kV-transmission line and two substations to connect a generation plant from biomass owned by Arauco to the National Electric System (Sistema Electrico Nacional-SEN) through the Lagunillas substation, property of the Chilean transmission company Transelec.

These works are part of the modernization and expansion of the Arauco plant project, which includes the expansion of two plants owned by Arauco, one for cellulose and another for the generation of electricity from biomass. This second plant will generate clean energy to be self-sufficient and the surplus will be provided to the National Electric System.
