Bolloré Thin Papers: Lower grammage papers have less environmental impact

Feb 20, 2009. /Lesprom Network/. Paper grades with lower grammages have less environmental impact, research by Bolloré Thin Papers has claimed. In collaboration with PricewaterhouseCoopers, the paper manufacturer evaluated the environmental impact of its thin paper Primapage from the sourcing of raw materials through to the end of its usage, as Printweek informed Lesprom Network. The analysis found there was a reduced impact on the environment with grades of lower grammages. As a result, a programme to reduce impact through a reduction in grammage has been launched by the company, again in partnership with PricewaterhouseCoopers. Bolloré chose Primapage because it is the company's most widely used thin paper. It has confirmed that another analysis will follow, using its Primalux (pigmented) paper. The manufacturer also said it has plans to develop a carbon footprint simulator available for visitors to its website in order to carry out an environmental assessment on jobs printed on Primapage.
