BrasPine has launched a major greenfield sawmill project in Uruguay and has selected the scanning solutions for the entire production process, according to the technology supplier MiCROTEC. The Brazilian manufacturer of pine frames and mouldings is expanding its presence in Uruguay with the Oceano sawmill project.

The scanning package includes four Logeye scanners, two Truespin scanners, two Goldeneye Transverse scanners, and one Wanescan. The scanners will be installed across the logyard, sawline, green mill, and dry mill.

The project will produce sawn timber for frames and mouldings. The mechanical lines for the sawmill are supplied by Holtec, Linck, and Springer.

Once fully operational, the Oceano sawmill is expected to become one of the largest in South America, with a projected production capacity of 35,000 m3 of sawn timber per month.
