In a modest shift from October's figures, Canada's lumber production saw a slight decrease of 0.1% in November, settling at 4.44 million cubic metres, according to the latest data from Statistics Canada. Despite this marginal monthly downturn, the production levels marked a 2.4% increase compared to November of the previous year, indicating a resilient upward trend in the sector over the longer term.
The sawmill sector experienced a notable fluctuation in shipments, with November witnessing a 1.3% reduction from October's numbers, totaling 4.27 million m3. However this figure represents a significant 7.9% enhancement from the same period in 2022.
