Chile is one of the leading exporters of bleached softwood kraft pulp (BSKP), supplying major paper producers across Asia and Europe. Exports of BSKP from Chile increased by 2% in 2025, based on data from Lesprom Analytics.
Chile exported 1 ,782 thousand tons of BSKP in 2025, up from 1 ,745 thousand tons in 2024. Export value declined by 9% to $1,155 million, while the average export price fell by 11% to $648 per ton.
China remained the dominant destination, accounting for 77% of Chile’s BSKP shipments in 2025. India, Taiwan, Japan, and South Korea followed, together bringing Asia’s share of Chile’s BSKP exports to over 90%. Exports to India increased by 41% year-on-year, the largest absolute growth among secondary destinations, reaching 86 thousand tons. Shipments to Taiwan and Japan rose by 14% and 22%, respectively.
Spain and Italy saw declines in BSKP imports from Chile in 2025, with Italy’s volume falling by 45% and export value dropping by more than half.
Average export prices decreased across most destinations. The Netherlands and Colombia showed the steepest declines in price per ton, while both markets still posted volume growth from low bases.
Chile’s BSKP exports have expanded since 2020, supported by steady demand from Asian buyers. The country’s pulp trade structure remains concentrated in Asian markets.
