Continental Wood Products extends Swedish operation

Oct 31, 2014. /Lesprom Network/. Continental Wood Products (CWP) has opened a stockyard within its associated sawmill Jarl Timber in Broakulla, Sweden, as the company said in the press release received by Lesprom Network.

European softwood director Jerry Wilson said: “This is a strategic move to expand the successful Swede Speed direct trailer service to our customers. We now have our own U.K. specification of C24 which runs alongside the mill’s stock list. By combining the two inventories we are able to offer a much larger pick-a-pack choice. The next move is to increase the frequency of shipping to U.K. to every day instead of twice weekly to a point where we can nearly always beat inland deliveries”.

CEO of Jarl Timber Egil Frietag said: “This is a perfect way forward for the mill, we are able to improve production planning and service the U.K. more effectively. Swede Speed has been an effective way to get volumes to customers efficiently and keep the handling and carbon footprint to an absolute minimum”.

CWP and Jarl Timber are both members of the Norvik Timber Industries Group.
