Egger has completed the modernization of its oriented strand board (OSB) plant in Wismar, Germany, five days earlier than planned after a 52-day shutdown. The project aimed to increase the plant’s production capacity by at least 15%, according to G. Siempelkamp GmbH & Co. KG.

The upgrade included new mat formers, a preheating system, new hot platens, and pressure distribution plates for the continuous press. An improved hydraulic control system was installed to optimize board thickness, along with new electrical and control equipment.

The contract between Egger and Siempelkamp was signed in April 2024, with planning beginning in mid-June. The first board was produced on October 29, 2025, marking the early completion of the project. Egger’s Wismar site produces OSB, MDF, and HDF boards as well as laminate flooring. The facility employs about 850 people and is one of seven Egger locations in Germany.
