Expert RA rating agency approved ecoB++ environment rating of Plitspichprom, while the level of environmental responsibility of the company is rate satisfactory, ecological risks are rather low, Expert RA public-affairs reported. In 2004 Plitspichprom continued the preparation for ISO 9000 and ISO 14000 certification, worked out environmental policies and set up a special environment protection department. Plitspichprom, a major timber consumer in Kaluga region, takes serious measures in order to follow environment protection rules and is reducing the square of logging areas year by year, in 2004 logging area was 2.2 heactares. Still Plitspichprom has to rebuilt purification faclilties, the costs are partially covered by the enterprise. However, in spite of this fact, the company is constantly raising a number of environmental indices, reducing the impact on the environment. Further increase of eco rating is impossible until the company creates a system to control illegal logging and reduces continuous logging in the rented forestries. Plitspichprom is the leading timber-processing enterprise in Kaluga region and the largest Russia exporter of matches, particleboard and hardboard. The total production output of Plitspichprom was estimated at RUR 1.06 billion in 2004.
