Stumpage earnings in Finland totaled Euro 3.7 billion in 2025, a new record, and rose 3% in real terms from the previous year, Natural Resources Institute Finland (Luke) reported.
Roundwood trade was active in the first half of 2025 while roundwood prices were high. Trade slowed toward the end of the year and prices fell, but average prices for the full year remained high.
Non-industrial private forests generated Euro 3.1 billion of stumpage earnings, or 84% of the total. Forests owned by the forest industry or the state generated the remaining Euro 0.6 billion.
Industrial roundwood removals increased 1% from the previous year. Log harvesting decreased slightly and pulpwood harvesting increased.
Logs produced 63% of stumpage earnings, or Euro 2.3 billion, while pulpwood produced 29%. The real price of pine logs was 12% higher and the real price of spruce logs was 9% higher than the average of the previous five years.
By region, earnings were highest in North Savo at Euro 393 million, North Karelia at Euro 370 million, and Central Finland at Euro 352 million.
