At Hirschbach GmbH in Sulzbach-Laufen, Germany, the log yard has been extended by a second sorting line in 2018. As the existing crosscut line for long logs was more than 20 years old, it has been replaced by a new high-capacity Holtec crosscut line the same time, as the company said in the press release received by Lesprom Network.
In order to keep the downtime of the sawmill as short as possible, the complete project was divided into two steps. After only three weeks of modification, the sawmill could start its operation with short logs again. In the second step the crosscut line for long logs was replaced.
