Homag Group to shut down Hemmoor plant in Germany

Homag Group’s Supervisory Board approved shutting down production at its Hemmoor site, Germany, effective December 31, 2020. Homag has a workforce of around 200 employees at Hemmoor, around 150 jobs are to be reduced there, as the company says in the press release received by Lesprom Network.

The products currently manufactured in the Hemmoor plant will in future be taken over by other plants in the Homag Group production network in Germany and Poland. This means that the entire product portfolio will be kept.

Homag Group is taking these measures to proactively counter the structural capacity surplus within Germany, and to take into account the expansion of capacity in growth markets. Around 83% of the company’s sales are made outside Germany.

Homag Group AG is the world's leading supplier of integrated solutions for production in the woodworking industry and woodworking shops.
